[Ignore Year finished in r1859] This day in history

I would like to create a "This day in history" module. I have 2 custom fields: DOB (date of birth) and DOD (date of death).

What I would like to do is create a module based on the criteria if today is equal to DOB or DOD.

I had a custom module that worked in J 1.5x and 2.5x but it doesn't work in 3.x. I have tested with the Universal module, which has so many features, I wonder if it is possible.

I appreciate any pointers in the right direction.

Thanks.

Did you ever get this resolved?
If yes, how did you do it?

Hello

i have not see this thread before, i missed it,
i think you can use date SCOPE:

Parameters:

FROM date is: "expression"
TO date is: "expression"

FROM: ADDTIME(CAST(CURDATE() AS DATETIME),'0 00:00:00')
TO: ADDTIME(CAST(CURDATE() AS DATETIME),'0 23:59:59')

Behaviour: "Static ..." (allows expression above)

Date type: "Date Field"
Compare with: ... not used in this case
Date Field: ... select your date field DOB (date of birth)

... you will have to create a second module for DOD (date of death)

Thanks so much for your reply.

I have created the modules, but they only work with today's date. I am not sure what I am missing.

This day in 1919 Sir Wilfrid Laurier died, so I want that to pop up every February 17, not just on February 17, 1919.

Any help refining this would be great!!!

Thanks.

Hello

yes, the above will not give you what you asked,

we would need to compare
today's day of year to that "day of year" of custom field,

- we could add some similar to:
"same day"
"same month"
... it will be
"same day, ignore year"
"same month, ignore year"

Hello

some of the changes to v2.1.3 compared to v2.1.2

1. we have need for this too, and work for it was already partially done,
so 3 new dynamic behaviors for DATE scope were added in r1855:
- same day/week/month but -ignore- Year,

2. plus the DATE scope now has a cleaner/more intuitive configuration

3. (requested by many users ...) also a dynamic custom field SCOPE = list same items that have same field value as the item currently being viewed, e.g. items with same "city" field

these features are not 100% tested yet, do you have a test/copy site for testing these ? otherwise please wait for final release v2.1.3 just even then this new feature may have some bug

Regards
