Preview Not Working was created by mikeg1
When I am looking at an article in the back end... I want to Preview it... so I click on Preview and nothing pops up but a white screen... ie. it's blank. I want to be able to see how a page looks before I publish it.

Hello

white page mostly like means a PHP fatal error but because error reporting is OFF (by default) we cannot see which error occured

please
- mention your FLEXIcontent version
- if you do a "view page source" does the page have any HTML ?
- try (temporarily) enabling error reporting and re-clicking on the preview button, do you get a visible error?
- Test with an unaltered built-in Template , edit your item and temporarily instead of using "(content) Type Default" item layout, use template "default"

Thanks for the really quick response - I appreciate it.

My server is a mainstream server that has worked on a ton of sites I have built before.

Joomla version: 2.5.11. Flexicontent version: is the one I just downloaded last week: version 2.0.2 r1680. PHP Version: 5.3.22. Every other extension I have works fine.

All the Pages does have HTML and does work fine from front end. Normal stuff - just text and an image.

I just created a new item... only html was:
<h1>TEST</h1>

Doc type: Article
Item Layout: Default

And still doesnt work.

PS - Where do I enable error reporting?

I did not mention server configuration

You said "White page" = blank page without any HTML,
so page is not blank, component is executed and it reaches at least the point that it prints the title

This is good information,
default template only show the item title (unless this is disabled too),
- go to template manager
- edit item layout of 'default' Template
- drag and drop fields that you wish to display like e.g description

The page or item shows what I need it to show from the front end... it's just when I go to preview that it is white.

When I go to template - edit the item... there are things like description there already... it appears to be already be setup properly.

And when I said blank/white... it is blank and white.. ie. no html when you go to view source... when you previously asked for HTML - I thought you were asking if there was HTML SUPPOSED to be there... but I guess you were asking, what was on/in the preview page. There is NOTHING rendered... when I click preview. No title, nothing. When I go to view source - there is no HTML at all.

PS - I realize you didnt ask for server info I was just putting it there for additional info, just in case.

ALSO... I went in Global Configuration... but Debug System set to yes... then went info Flexicontent - Item - a specific article and got the following error "report" Flexicontent is the only one that gives this and when I turn debug off though - the page will work:

Joomla!
500 - An error has occurred.

JDatabaseMySQLi::query: 1064 - You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near ' cr.rating_count, ((cr.rating_sum / cr.rating_count)*20) as score FROM pxrj3_fle' at line 1 SQL=SELECT t.access as type_access, t.name as typename, t.alias as typealias, , cr.rating_count, ((cr.rating_sum / cr.rating_count)*20) as score FROM pxrj3_flexicontent_items_ext as ie JOIN pxrj3_flexicontent_types AS t ON t.id = ie.type_id LEFT JOIN pxrj3_content_rating AS cr ON cr.content_id = ie.item_id WHERE ie.item_id=55046

Perhaps this is why preview wont work OR is another error? It also gives a stack list but I dont want to post here as it gives specific server locations.
