Possible enhancement for imagefield thumb

I'm here again to ask you to please evaluate the possibility of adding a useful enhancement to image field

I'm currently building a site having a large content made by image galleries.

Due to the fact that more than 90% of images is in landscape size, I'm using a 4/3 or 16/9 re-size dimension to trim the thumbs, setting the "Processing method" option to CUT (to get all thumbs having the same size)
I'm now in the needing of better trimming the thumbs aspect for many portrait-sized images: in my case, many of them have the full view of people bodies (where faces are positioned in the top portion of the image), and I would like to get the top part of image in thumbs. But the current CUT option generates thumbs cutting outs the people faces...

More generally, when using the CUT option, we can't right now get other kind of image thumb to better refine the one we now get from the central image area

My question is: is there a way to add a further sub-option to the CUT processing method option in image field (to be shown in item form for each image to be added), letting us to choose which part of the image you want to use to generate its thumb?

For example, a "3 values" radio-button ("standard thumb generation", "use the top of the image", "use the bottom of the image") will help a lot to choose a better view frame for each specific image. Also a simple "distance from the top to generate thumb" field (using % or pix value) could be enough.

I don't know how deep is the necessary code change to get this, but I think it will help us to mitigate the very bad results you now get in image thumb generation when using landscape sized thumbs for portrait sized images

Waiting for your kindly reply and thought.
Regards

Hello

already aware of this

J4 will be using cropperJS in media manager
but we should not wait that long to have this

and anyway we can make an earlier adaptation of it

OK, but this kind of change will require time to include it and make it stable...
In the meantime, is there a short way to get a simple "top-offset" option field to mitigate the problem while waiting for the final solution?
I really need this, but I presume I'm not the only one to have this needing...
I'm usig the "scale" option for the "large" image, so I need it only for the "small" and "middle" ones.

but we need to find a good workflow .. any image no need to be manual cropped ...
i think its better to wait a j4 integration .... we have many work in same time for now

I agree with the assertion that only few images need to be reworked. This is why I was pushing the idea for the  (probably) simple sub-option field  to be activated only when needed.
The idea was to have a radiobutton as sub-option for the "CUT" image resize option, having two values: "standard cut resizing" (default) and "top-offset" (or "align to top/align to bottom") . When rendering the field in submission form, you'll get a radio button for each specific image view (small, medium, large), and from there you could choose the desired cutting way
I don't know how complicated is this (i don't look for the implied code), but it seems an effective way to make it better (without introducing a whole cropping editor addition...)
It this a valid starting point or not? If yes, could you please evaluate the implementation cost and send me a quote?
Regards

Just a reminder to ask for more details (if any) on development ideas/eta.
