Hii

Not a bug, it is a requirement since ordering is per category

Hmm. But this changed and I think that it is inconvenient. Up to now I could just search for an article without knowing in which category it is. Now I have to know the category...

Hello

but before it was not working properly in all cases

the problem is that items belong to multiple categories

if we allow listing Category A and Category B
and item 145 belongs to both of them
to which category will you be setting the order ?

For ordering it is ok that a category has to be selected. But if one only wants to edit or unpublished an article it would be easier just to search for the title instead auf choosing a category and than search.

Hello

if your default sort is the ordering column

then when you visit items manager , you will not see any items
i see that this is problematic

if no category is selected, then you will need to sort e.g. by title or creation date or any other column
and only then items will appear

i am thinking then, to do this:
show items, but disable the ordering column until a category is selected ?

Yes. But I checked and with Joomla ordering all items appear. Did not now that. So for me it is ok. Just one click more.
I still think that with standard FC category ordering it is somehow misleading if no item show up at all.
