Sorting Items in v3.2.0.1 difficult

I 've just upgraded to FC 3.2.0.1 Release date: 2017-08-03.
I'm experiencing a couple of issues with the sorting of items by category.
1. Filtering by category also adds items that are secondary in the filtered category; / primary category is other than filtered.
2. Some items both new and or existing that are parented by the same category, show up in the filtered results, but are not available for sorting ( with or without a filtered category). This remains unchanged with more than one assigned category to said item.
3. The save button for sorting never goes away after performing a save; it remains the same with no indication of having done anything after clicking.

I attempted to roll back to 3.2.0b but the initial permissions would not clear and hold.

Hello

Filtering behaviour has not changed

1. Filtering by category also adds items that are secondary in the filtered category; / primary category is other than filtered.

This is done according to current view configuration
if in current category options or in menu "category options" listing of secondary items is enabled then it will behave like this

2. Some items both new and or existing that are parented by the same category, show up in the filtered results, but are not available for sorting ( with or without a filtered category). This remains unchanged with more than one assigned category to said item.

i am not sure what you mean with the above , e.g. what is "new" what is "existing" ?

show up in the filtered results, but are not available for sorting (

??

I attempted to roll back to 3.2.0b but the initial permissions would not clear and hold.

you mean v3.2.0-dev-build2 ?
about initial permissions we fixed an issue with Joomla 3.7.4, does not have the fix

Hello

a bug was fixed with including subcategory items
- that is why you see the subcategory items !!

Go to filters and set the filtering option to exclude subcategory items !

(Also there is a warning message that suggests that you exclude subcategory items !, does not appear ?)

Hello

i checked and excluding sub-category items is automatic when you
- Sorted via ordering number column
- Selected a specific category

-- > so you only need to select a specific category in the category filter

Also when you click to sort via ordering column
- you get a message suggesting that you select a specific category
