[Fixed r1853] html tag being stripped in item form

I've been evaluating flexi-content and it's performed extremely well. But I'm stuck on getting the following to work.

Normally, in joomla 3.2 I can put something between < and > and it remains. But when I do this after installing flexicontent, the tag gets stripped. It saves OK...but when I open it up in edit mode, it disappears. Behind the scenes it seems to be adding in an associated end tag and becomes part of the underlying html rather than displayed text.

Is there some sort of setting I need to change. Tried switching to blog and setting the strip html tags off and also used my admin id which doesn't strip html...but can't seem to get it to work. It doesn't appear to be stripping the tags though...it looks like it's auto completing them.

Hello

this is probably not related to FLEXIcontent, but it is done
- either by the HTML editor
- or by Joomla's text filter
which HTML editor are you using ? JCE ?

this is probably done by the HTML editor
e.g. if you disable HTML editor on description field and then save it, you should see that the tag remains

- if the above is true ,
1. then visit the configuration of editor and configure the EDITOR profile that you are using (probably you are using the "default")
2. configure joomla's text filters

JCE (Joomla Content Editor): Scripts removed on saving

JCE (Joomla Content Editor): IFrame removed on saving or editor toggle

Regards

Thanks for the reply.

I was using JCK in my test site but just to verify I did the following:

1. Reinstalled a fresh copy of a joomla stack on my pc.
2. Used the default editor...tinyMCE
3. Put up an article using the admin id. <and> tag remains
4. Install flexicontent. Do the minimum config but change the template to blog.
5. Put up an article using the admin id. <and> tag disappears when try to edit the article. Look at the html and the tag is totally stripped unlike in JCK where an </and> tag was added.

Any thoughts about what I'm missing?

Thanks...

Hello

why not try what i have suggested above ?

1. to see if HTML editor is removing it, go to Joomla user manager and edit the user, set hih/her to use:
Editor - NONE
- then test

2. Different users may have different text-filters applied, try as super admin, and also do this:
go to Joomla's Global configuration and check for
a. HTML filters
b. TEXT filters
c. also try setting "Filter Type" to "No Filtering"
clear both of them FOR ALL user-groups that your user belongs to (a joomla user may belong to multiple user-groups)
- then test

3. Try in backend, (in frontend some content plugin maybe applied too)

4. Is the HTML that you add valid ? what exactly are you adding that is stripped?
e.g. "i add:"

I have tried your suggestions so just to summarize:

1. If I turn the editor off, xml tags don't disappear.
2. I'm using the superuser which has filtering set to no filtering. I don't see any html filter tab...I just see text filter tab.
3. Tried in back and frontend.
4. Just to clarify, as I said above, I'm down to testing with just a simple xml tag <tag>. I tried the iframe example you gave, same thing happens.

Flexicontent v2.1.2 r1806 which is marked beta is the one I'm using...that is the current version on your site. I'm using Joomla 3.2.2.

The articles save correctly with the xml tags in there.

<tag>

When I view the articles, that works too. So it looks like everything is working up to the point where I edit the article. There seems to be some sort of extra conversion of the < and > encoding happening when I have flexicontent turned on.

Here's how the html looks when loasded into the editor with flexicontent installed:

If I uninstall flexicontent, I can edit all of my articles (even the ones created in flexicontent) and it works correctly. It loads in the editor as:

<tag>

So if this is working for you then I must have some sort of setting wrong...but keep in mind that I'm now working with a fresh copy of joomla and flexicontent with no other extensions added.

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Hello

so the HTML editor is removing these,
maybe it is because FLEXIcontent is loading profile1 of HTML editor and Joomla is loading profile2

you said that you are using tinyMCE, can you install/test with JCE?

JCE supports configuring this in its profiles
