content plugins not appearing

It depends on the particular plug-in.
There is no magic simple fix.
You have to first see what is being done in the plug-in.

I have my web server up and running again, but still need to re-install multiple Joomla testing websites.
Hopefully PHP 5.3.1 will not cause major issues.
Have to downgrade if it does (more downtime).
The point is that I may be able to test plug-ins again later today or tonight.

So post links to these specific "essential" plug-ins if you would like me to take a look.

The free Simple Image Gallery Plugin code has not been updated since March 2008 (over 2 years) and it has issues. Since the Pro version is commercial, I have no idea of how it works.

The Very Simple Image Gallery is an updated and maintained version of the free plug-in.

Thank you. I got the Kunena Discuss translated last night, and will test it out today.

SIG is a great plugin that is a bit more flexible than the free ones, so much more suited to my needs.

I am looking at transferring from a K2-based site to FLEXIcontent (I think it's MUCH more extensible), but there is a bit of a learning curve I am trying to overcome.

Some plug-ins limit themselves to particular components, options, views, etc.
Some of these plug-ins may easily be modified to work with other components (e.g. FLEXIcontent).
Some of these plug-ins may not be easily modified.

I have tested many plug-ins that are working just fine.
Many work as is.
Some have required minor changes to remove their limitations.
Some will not work without major modifications.
This all depends on the particular plug-in.

Many content plug-ins do not work in Sobi2 for the same reasons.
Many content plug-ins do not work in VirtueMart for the same reasons.
Etc., etc., etc.
