Hello

actually

"Use global" in FC configured means "Inherited"

That is "inherited from heritage source"
- which can be "parent categories" or directly from "global = component parameters"

Similar "Use global" in item parameters
- means inherit from type and then inherit from component parameters

and "Use global" item layout parameters
- means inherit from type layout parameters and then inherit from global layout parameters

i making some improvements on this,
i have added as you have seen heritage display to drop-down selects too

- and for the default values in PHP layout files , i will add them as "hint" (placeholder) in the item.xml , category.xml (instead of showing empty)
