For me, my images are stored within/under the "public_html" / root directory. After trying to 777 all of my directories (including the root directory) and discovering that file permissions (verified by my web host) was not the problem, I reverted my permissions to their original setting and kept the "fix" that I discovered.

For me, I have yet to see/hear a good reason why this is not a viable fix so I will be keeping it on my instal. Granted, in this case, this is just for the creation of thumbs via the image field.

If there is a better solution I'd love to hear of it or find it, but nothing else has come up yet.

Are you using
nnn.nnn.nnn.nnn/~username/

to access your site?

This may cause problems with detecting url paths,

maybe this causes phpthumb code to decide (wrongly) that your media folder is above document root

For me, yes, I am using a similar URL. I thought that may be the problem, but I'm not ready to take the site public per Flexicontent still being in testing, and a few other things.

I may try to get a domain name assigned to this site and see if that fixes the problem.

Appreciate the pointer.

All of my issues seemed to be solved. My last issue was addressed in the following post:

<!-- l --><a class="postlink-local" href=" www.flexicontent.org/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=71&t=5090&start=0 ">viewtopic.php?f=71&t=5090&start=0 - IN Fleximodule, images replaced by html

Thanks again for all of your help. If I haven't said it, I think this is a fabulous project. :P
