Why are images stored in "secured"?

Images that are inserted within an item by the field type [image] are stored in the "secured" folder. And because of that the images are not displayed in the frontend, when the installation is moved to the production server (see the missing images in the right column modules):
weissneu.jordymedia.de/products/tactile-...ile-transducers.html

cheers

You see not to have copied the secure folder.

Look at the following link and check that you have copied the bolded folder

weissneu.jordymedia.de/component ... b.php?src= /secured_downloads873/thumb_1-18.jpg&w=77&h=58&aoe=1&q=95

You can rename/move this folder to something else and set the new path in global configuration
Path to secure files folder parameter

Thank you for the hint. But the folder secured_downloads873 and all images are on the server as you can see in this link: weissneu.jordymedia.de/secured_downloads873/thumb_1-18.jpg

Question remains: Why are the images stored in the secure folder in the first place?

Cheers

If you mean why add the media images to the file-manager

then, this was exactly my thought too when i first joined the project.

The media images (image/minigallery fields) are almost never reused, so a per item folder or and item_id-field_id sub-folder makes sense

We have already examined various alternative to this,
1. copying com_media component and modifying it (to complex abandonded)
2. modifying a powerful joomla file-manager plugin (implementing but not sure to included this hacked code with FC)
3. adding folder listing TEMPLATE in FLEXIcontent fileelement view (selects images), this is what will be done, probably ...

Regards

Thanks, sounds good for the future.

Nevertheless right now I need to find a solution to my problem in my current project. Why are the images not displayed despite they are on the server in the right place? (it ist not the minigallery it is the field [image])

I suspect the reason is due to different version of GD library in your production server

i cannot be sure though,

do you have a different web-host to try?
