Related items field will not link to items through main category, it will use the category that you used when you selected the field.

If you want to link to an item through main category, you will have to "add" the item by first selecting it's main category ...

You think it is worth adding a new parameter to achieve this behavior?

yes of course!!
for my personal case and also for more people

flexicontent is really powerful, thanks to you and the team... people will want to build directories, catalogues... in those cases it'll be helpful to have a a powerful related items field (don't forget the reverse feature )

and when you fill the form, you are in one main category and you want to relate and item from an other one...

relating actors to films, products to owners, ingredients to recipes...

So you say to add an option to related items Field to FORCE main category instead of the one we used to select an item?

ummm not sure what you mean by maincategory
let try with an example :

if i have the followings cat :
flexiroot/catalogue/sub_catalogue/item_productA
flexiroot/directory/sub_directory/item_ownerB
and the 2 items related by a field

when i'll be in the content "item_productA", if i clic on the field, i would like to go to :
flexiroot/directory/sub_catalogue/item_ownerB

and not (like now) to :
flexiroot/catalogue/sub_directory/item_ownerB

I am i clear ?
