Is it possible to set the expiration period on either category- og content-type level?

So that ex. all items published in a specific category will have a 30 days lifespan.

no for automatic option
but you can use the unpublish date of item

FLEXIcontent is Free but involves a very big effort on our part.
Like the our support? (for a bug-free FC, despite being huge extension) Like the features? Like the ongoing development and future commitment to FLEXIcontent?
