Sure, but I prefer to avoid having a new item type, with (at least) one published item that could possibly be displayed, or be searched, whatever..., just for that.

note that in backend items manager
- you can show specific Fields (e.g. this weblink) when you filter by specific item type
you can configure these extra columns in the configuration of every type

I don't think I need that for now, but the functionality is interesting. Thanks for the information.
