will replace backend CSV export with AJAX CSV export and put it in PRO version only

what is the usefulness of exporting the items in your case ?

maybe I misunderstood, but are you asking why do I need to export the items ?! I thought we already answered it !
exporting item in order to do massive change via excell, and then re-import them to update, using item ID as identifiant to match and update ! this is something quite comon when you have thousands of items with lot of fields....
Final user is not always able to manage that via phpmyadmin ! they don't even know what it is. this is why import/export is very usefull !

the item id export / import should be little work because the mechanism is already in place
