Problem with sorting on custom field if using featured and standard items

Hi,
im using in a custom date field for ordering. Works fine until now without using a value > 0 to show featured items first.

Now I want to show first some featured items sorted by the date field and then the standard items sorted by the date field.
That does not work.
If I use that custom field for ordering, all items are shown after that ordering, not separated in featured and standard items.
Am I doing something wrong or how can I do this?

i recommand you to use universal module to display it at top list and filter by feature

That means, I need two modules? One for featured and one for standard items?

yes create 2 modules
- in 1 module select to include (Joomla) "Featured" flagged items
- in 1 module select to exclude (Joomla) "Featured" flagged items
