- what is the syntax for a multi value field. I want to get the first occurence of mini gallery field.

Hello

the custom function is not related to the options that exist for parameters "prefix / suffix"

it is a different thing
it is for custom display of the value of the field

you can access other field values via:
$item->fieldvalues[NNN]

where the NNN is the id of the other field

And new (v3.2.1.8 / v3.3.x)
option not only to 'display' but to also custom create a value based on other fields and store it as --real-- DB thus it become searchable and filterable

Presently I wont use this new option but keep the prefix/suffix one (as I'm already using it in the current site).

The origin value I want to get is :

field name = diapo
type = mini gallery
ID of the field = 20

I want to get the url of the first image.

All my test have been unsuccessfull.

can you give the text I need to add in the prefix to recover the image.

it is possible with image-gallery field only

and we have made work to deprecate the minigallery field and auto-replace with image-gallery field
(v3.3.x)
- image-gallery field was prepared to accept
- image-gallery field gets layouts (with XML parameter files that customizes every type of supported JS gallery)
- image-field got an update of elasticslide to be a proper slideshow + optional carousel

to do complete the work to remove / (auto-replace) the minigallery field

we will not do more work on minigallery field

I have replaced mini gallery by image-gallery.

What I want to do :
My site is 3 langages speaking. Quite all articles are displayed in the 3 langages.

With mini gallery I have uploaded only once the images of my first article. When I ask for the translation in the 2 remaining langages, I don't need to upload the images for the 2 translated articles, they are displayed directly in the translated articles.

With image-gallery, I need to upload the same images for the 3 langages.

Is it possible to limit the upload of images ?


Using image-gallery has partially solved my problem for displaying the list of articles.

The fields used in the article are a text above the diaporama and a text under the diaporama.

On the list of articles I want to display the first image of the diaporama followed by the 100 first words of the concatenation of both texts.

The concatenation of both texts is done using prefix/suffix (and re-replacer component).
Thanks to image-gallery type I get also the first image of the diaporama.

In the category display I use the blog type template. I have put the diaporama field and the concatenated text in 'above-description-line1-nolabel'.

the problem I get : the image is above the text. Is it possible to have both field on the same line (like style = "float:left")
