Hello

also about extending tags,
tested code for adding joomla-based tags

will go for the simplest solution,

- on item form load and item form save we will check if Joomla tags exists and map to them / create new

there will not be a mass maping yet

Hm...
I though, that you'll add Joomla Tags form in to FC Tags form.

Same, like in items form:

So, it will use both tables. Not?

So, If we create new tag - it will saves to FC Tags table and in Joomla Tags table.
If we edit existing FC tag - it will add data to Joomla Tags table.

This is only my mind. I really don't know how it will be better.

Main thing - to get extented fields for tags:

Description (+ images),
Meta Title,
Meta Description,
Specific H1 Title.

We need to transform tags pages to usual categories pages for better linking and browsing.
