- Using different image files for checked/unchecked in edit mode. The image is already clickable, so the radio/checkbox icon display could be omitted?

- Allowing svg files or inline svg

FLEXIcontent is Free but involves a very big effort on our part.
Like the our support? (for a bug-free FC, despite being huge extension) Like the features? Like the ongoing development and future commitment to FLEXIcontent?

I would not add different image yet

We could add configuration option to hide it
and allow selection of some CSS effect

ALTERNATIVE 1: css opacity (a little lower) + drop shadow
- use low opacity for non-checked e.g. 70% + a drop shadow effect
(i say 70% so that it does not look as disabled)

ALTERNATIVE 2: css border
- use a thinker green border like 2px to highlight the checked ones
(this may not look for transparent images)

ALTERNATIVE 3: css grayscale
- force non-checked images to grayscale via CSS
(this requires color images)

ALTERNATIVE 4: other CSS effect
- ???

[EDIT]
about SVG , i will check what is needed to make it possible to use it in the fields

Just hiding the radio with css is not enough, because can't see its checked or not (on edit). I would prefer the simplest effect (like opacity + shadow) because of so many shapes, sizes, colors,.. image variations thinkable. For very stylish design and effects there are svg or font icons instead of images.

Maybe seperate option for hiding and effect, so you could use the effect with or without displaying radio/checkbox?
