Wishlist for relation field types

My thoughts about relation field type:

The relation and reverse field have great functionality. The weakness is on the edit part where you choose the related items. Categories are not always the choice with lots of records. There should be more filtering/limiting options availible. A filter for custom field value against master field value would be a very flexible usage. Making the field type "multi-value" to support usage within fieldgroups would be great also .

i think what you suggest is already implemented

we have an unreleased field "automatic relations"

it adds new items as related items automatically
- because in it you do not select items
instead you see a list of field filter and you select values in them

any new or old items matching the filters are shown automatically as related

just tested a modified copy of select field plugin, pretending its a relation field by using the field id of a existing relation field (created before the normal way and hiding). SQL query give me the id's for item and category to create the same syntax at value field (item:category) in flexicontent_fields_item_relations.

The reverse field seems to work properly. Do I miss something, or do I create another problem this way?
