Hello

- do tests in item form (just in case you have caching ON)

have added any spaces in the language file ?
e.g.
this is wrong:
SOMENAME ="test"

it should be:
SOMENAME="test"

Hello

also note that Joomla has different files for frontend and backend
- make sure you languaga overrides for both frontend and backend
(for site and for administrator)

I checked the language files, and no erroneous characters or spaces anywhere. I also made sure that the translation was added for both admin and site. So far, nothing.

I went into an item form to check the results, and that still just shows my constants, as does the frontend.

Should there be some plugin enabled or property turned on in the filed settings?

Followed all your instructions but still no go. Any more ideas?

THANKS AGAIN FOR THE HELP!

Hello

- to which language did you add these,i guess you are using english language for start, right ?
- are you editting the Joomla "overrides" language files directly ?
instead try the Joomla "overrides" interface at language manager and see if they are recognized

Yes, I've been working with English first and will eventually need French as well. I have been using the Joomla interface for the overrides all this time, but I also opened the language files manually to double check them. They are definitely working properly because translations are working elsewhere in the site, just not these ones for the drop down select box.

I'm really stuck here. We've compared it to another site that has similar setup and everything looks fine. I can't seem to see what I'm missing. Are you able to help further?
