Content by mail was created by Macjoomla
Hello ggppdk,

we have an old scouting site on Joomla 1.5 to update and would like to use flexicontent from now on. Unfortunately there we have an old component running that allows to write a mail to specific mail accounts and then publishing on the site automatically on specific criteria. This makes it easy to send a picture with a little text by mail, if you dont have a big computer stuff in the forrests. You can update your site from smartphone like you update a facebook or twitter site.

As these extensions today probably wont work with fc content, i just wanted to ask, if this content by mail feature could be a realistic feature request for flexicontent itself, or if you say, this would not be interesting to develop or if you have another idea?

Thank you for your opinion about this and best regards

Hello

i don't understand what this plugin does,

FLEXIcontent has 4 cases of notifications:
- new item needs approval
- new item already published
- existing item changed, reviewal needed
- existing item changed, no reviewal needed, changes published

-- Flexicontent is Free but involves a big effort on our part.
Like the our support? (for a bug-free FC, despite having a long list of functions) Like the features? Like the ongoing development and future commitment to FLEXIcontent?

Hello ggppdk,

thank you for you answer. This plugin is not for sending notifications about new articles.

This plugin we used to have on the site was asking a mailserver for new mails to a specific account. So if i send a mail with a photo an text like "We have a great time" to for example homepage@mydomain.com, the plugin gets the mail and uses the text and the picture of the mail to generate a new content item. The next visitor on the site will see the new article "We have a great time" with the foto that has been attached to the mail.

Best regards, Macjoomla

Hello

i see,
you have 2 options:

1. update the plugin to work in J3, creating a Joomla article,
and then, in then every day in FLEXIcontent dashboard, click:
"Bind new articles to a content type"

2. update the plugin to work in J3 and create a new FLEXIcontent item,
here a FAQ article for creating a FLEXIContent item:
www.flexicontent.org/documentation/faq/7...-in-custom-code.html

Hello ggppdk,

thank you for the answer, the powermail plugin is already updated to the current joomla version and i have them already asked, if it could work with fc. Unfortunately not everybody seems to write in its forum frequently, as you do ;)

1. Can "Bind new articles to a content type" be automated, so it does not have to be started manually?
2. Lot of stuff to read and understand for me as a non-programmer, i will take a look.

Thank you and best regards, Macjoomla

Do you think, you could make this an automatism to automatic bind new joomla content to Flexicontent? This would be very helpful for adding articles per mail, if nobody is at home and can bind manually. However nobody nows, when to bind and it would be good to publish well in time. Then it would work fine to post articles in realtime per mail tp flexicontent.

Thank you and best regards, Macjoomla
