[SOLVED] Select multiple categories in the back office

We have some big websites with a huge category tree. Administering those websites is time consuming because of the length of the tree (and lists). However it's structure could be made much more compact if we could avoid repetitions in the list. The solution would be to provide multiple select for categories in the back end (witch is already available in the front end).

Lets take an example. When we have following categories with their subcategories:

Category1
- red
- green
- blue
Category2
- red
- green
- blue
Category3
- red
-green
- blue
etc...

From the back office we can with above structure easily select sublists (ex: Category2/green) that do not have hundreds of items. Payoff is that the tree isn't easy to navigate because of it's length.

A better approach would be:

Category1
Category2
Category3
Color
- red
- green
- blue

this avoids repetition in the tree. But in order to get the same filtered list in the back end, we should be able to make a multiple selection. Ex: "Category2" and "green". But this feature isn't (yet ;-) implemented.

Is there a plan to implement this function in a near future ?

Hello

v3 implements a very powerful cascading feature for fields

radio, radiomage,
checkbox, checkboximage
select, selectmultiple

which is much more complex to implement than this,

- category selector is implemented in place, thus this could be an option,
what you suggest is not there now
i understand that this is a feature request,
you may open an issue in our GitHub Repository, it will be accepted for future implementation
