[seperated per purpose, a specific suggestion?] Optimize CSS

Hi,

My custom CSS file contains almost 2000 lines and most of them are for Flexicontent. :D

What I am requesting is that splitting by view type in General Config.
For example,
General CSS for FC,
Category view,
Item View,
Item Submission, etc..

Does anyone use JCH Optimize Plugin?

Any comments are welcome :D

Hello

that is not a lot unless you have 20 CSS properties per line (= you use 1 line per CSS rule) ?

about your question, flexicontent CSS itself is not a lot consider what it does,

- also this was done recently --> organized CSS per per purpose
- also per view: the category layout CSS is at the template:
category.css, item.css

can you be more specific ?
which CSS rules you have made sure that they are not needed ?

e.g. they should be in a different purpose file
e.g. move from flexicontent.css to flex_form.css ?

Like the our support? (for a bug-free FC, despite having a long list of functions) Like the features? Like the ongoing development and future commitment to FLEXIcontent?

Sorry for the poor explanation.

It's all about Custom CSS.

It would be nice to add custom css for each view, and add those files in General config.

that is not a lot unless you have 20 CSS properties per line (= you use 1 line per CSS rule) ?

No, I use new lines for each property and I know that I have to remove space or new lines to optimize...
But, before this, I want to manage custom CSS file for FC. With only one CSS file, It's hard to find some properties are not used at all. This happens because of added new HTML tags or changed id, class name..

That's why I am asking to have separated CSS files for each view.
What do you think?

I have checked my site with unused-css.com/

This reported as below:

Checking on index page:
custom.css
Unused CSS: 64%

flexicontent.css
Unused CSS: 83%

Hello

ok and in if you enable field NNN, it will be same again ?

if you enable feature NNN it will be same again

if you do not need some CSS that does not apply for some other site

if you travel by your car you remove seats that you do not need to reduce weight ?
(ok in programming world it is easy to remove car seats ... metaphorically speaking)

and what about intersection of CSS across different view or category with different templates, or what about when adding new HTML code and using an available class , we will be moving around CSS across files ?

if we had everything in a single file then ok , i can understand your request, but we don't

-- what we can do is this

1. decide if file1.css should be loaded or not,
e.g. flexi_form.css should be loaded only on item form view or other form view

2. separate into further CSS files

but again give something specific

-- open an issue in bug tracker and suggest moving specific parts of CSS to separate files and stating when they should be loaded

-- Flexicontent is Free but involves a big effort on our part.
Like the our support? (for a bug-free FC, despite having a long list of functions) Like the features? Like the ongoing development and future commitment to FLEXIcontent?

I understand what you mean.

I was just wondering how I could optimize CSS loading time effectively.

I have just found a module that I can add custom CSS and load it when I need it(by using NoNumber's Advanced Module Manager together)
extensions.joomla.org/extensions/style-a...ign/templating/14053

Maybe, loading more modules could be a bad idea... but I will give it a try..
So please disregard this topic and thanks for your time.
