Hi,

I am liking the look of the new tab based interface.

The issue I think that many clients will have is if a field is required or they forget to choose a category and they click save - there isn't a warning message.

I realize that the text turns red in the tabbed area - but that doesn't really help the client know where to find the error.

A simple solution would be to display an error message above the tabs:

"Please select Primary category."

or

"Please enter required fields:
+ Title"

Thanks,

Robert

Hello,
on validation error,
1. the tab auto-focuses
2. the fields label turns red
3. the page is scrolled on the invalid form field

the above was same before (we had tabs before via group-marker field), just before step 1 was missing for core properties.

so, you speak of adding a pop message,
we have thought of it before,

a popup message like:
"Invalid field 'label-of-field', please correct"
would be useful (i understand that it would be useful to color-blind people but i mean to other people)?
i mean besides the label becoming red

something other message?
-- i have thought of adding a parameter to the fields, to enter a custom language string that will be displayed in a popup are as inline text error.

This is not difficult to implement, just you think is high priority?

Hi ggppdk,

I am using the latest version, and really will simplify Joomla! for users.

I think the main UX issue is when I choose:

1. New Item Type eg. "bikes"
2. The Item type "Item type: bikes" appears first for you enter text - not the "General" tab.

I think it makes more sense to enter the tabs from left to right:
a) Enter Item Title first
b) Enter Item Categories first
c) You can then "Save"
d) Then you are ready to enter content

On further experimentation, I think the issue is when I create a new item, it remembers which tab you were previously working on - so opens on that one rather than the "general" tab.

What do you think?

Cheers,

Robert

Has this issue been addressed in any way?

I am reviewing user interface issues to see what has been done vs. what needs to be done.

Hello

no changes in this one,

TODO: also add more options for simplifying the form, and try to hide some Joomla CORE properties
