Hello,

Please consider having assigning item to multiple categories automatically by creating a select field(I call it Item allocator) populated with category names selected by admin. Once author select value and submit item then Item will be allocated to default category as well as above selected category.

For example, with below Category structure,

UsedCar
|_BMW
|_FORD
|_TOYOTA
The default item allocation would be UsedCar category and item will be allocated one of following sub-category by Item Allocator field.
Also, This Item Allocator field name is Brand so this Brand field will be saved in Item.

CITY
|_TOKYO
|_OSAKA
|_NAGOYA
Using another allocator field allow to allocate item in CITY AND one of following sub-category selected by author. This Item Allocator field name is City so this City field will be saved in Item.

Price_Range
|_1,000-5,000
|_5,000-10,000
|_10,000-20,000
Same as above. Using another allocator field allow to allocate item in PRICE AND one of following sub-category selected by author. This Item Allocator field name is Price_Range so this Price_Range field will be saved in Item.

Please let me know your thought.

Best wishes,
Brandon

Ok , for some future version:

You can POST a bug issue here describing it

code.google.com/p/flexicontent/issues/list

and i will accept it a enhancement (NOTE avoid posting in bug tracker before posting in our forums)

Like the our support? (for a bug-free FC, despite having a long list of functions) Like the features? Like the ongoing development and future commitment to FLEXIcontent?

Hello,

1st suggestion:
I have suggested using automatic assigning items to multiple category by using fc field.
This is powerful feature coz we can assign items to any category(even different group of category). Also it will allow to assign its child category.

2nd suggestion:
Maybe this can be simple approach and easy to implement(maybe 30mins work for ggppdk :D ) but it will only assign items from child to parent(until root) category.
Adds params in Category.
e.g. Assign item to parent category: Yes or No.

For example, categorized in 3 level, it will assign items to its category and parent category and root category. But it should work regardless of category levels.

What do you think, ggppdk?

Best Regards,
Brandon
