Disable Front End Editing

I am not sure if I am missing it or if there is a way to disable front end editing for everyone (including admins). Would like to remove the icons on the front end (editing and publish icons). Please let me know if there is a way to remove these icons.

Thanks

Apparently, there is the option in category's parameters : items list creation

Edit button : hide / show but when I have tried it, it did not work.

Didn't work for me either, was not sure if there is something I was missing. I know how to take it out from joomla articles, just was not sure if there was a php edit for it like joomla or a option to switch it off.

mmm , yes this parameter is used only in category view

Because propagating this parameter in item view, will cause confusion.

-- maybe the best would be to extend this parameter to have 3 values

existing 2 options will be renamed to:

- "item view"
- "category & item view"

and add:
- "neither category & item view"

Then also add this parameter globally

That would be great, I guess this can be moved to feature requests. Just wanted to make sure i was not missing anything.

Opened this issue not to forget:
code.google.com/p/flexicontent/issues/detail?id=491

Actually the source code changes are minimal, because the edit button is created in a single place.
