Groups of fields

additionally, it would be nice to give color to the background of the field groups.

You can do this esaly but not to 2.5 sorry.

The plugin only work with j1.5 as already mention.

you do do something like this, this is the order of the FIELD of a content type:

1-name[core]
2-category[core]
3-tags[core]
----
4- SEPARATOR HTML:<div style="backgroud-color:#000;>"
5- Description[core]
6- select[select]
6- price[text]
5- SEPARATOR HTML:</div>

So like this You can open you own div I guess and close it after the select field this way you can create a group.

Grouping field into
- a. form fieldsets OR
- b. Javascript tabs (we already have tabbing code in item edit form)

is rather easy since we can add an additional TEXT property to the field edit form (field configuration) and call it field group. (But maybe this is not the best way)

But there is an implication or a little confusion since the field order per type will become a little tricky

Maybe the Best way is to create a special field:

-- The grouping field will be marked as:
a. is Fieldset or is Tab
b. is Fieldset/Tab title
c. is Fieldset/Tab end

This will combine smoothly with existing order of fields per Content Type

I agree with you. In our case the need for grouping fields only applies in complex forms.

So my argument is if the FORM IS COMPLEX I can give my self the trouble of spending time creating the fields tabs for grouping.

Until know we only needed this for 2 clients in 2 years.
