"Include Subcategories" checked by default

Not a feature request, just a request for an easy adjustment...

In the item manager filters, I think "include subcategories" should be checked by default. Many people including myself will rarely put items directly in parent categories (we couldn't even do this with Joomla's Sections if we wanted). It's the children where items are going to be filed mostly. Right now, I have to click around a couple of times (the checkbox doesn't use ajax) to get it to display everything in a top level category where it was easier in Joomla's article manager.

Hi

I am not sure what you mean ... Is it about items in subactegories being listed on screen when you call the top category ?

I never checked if this was working, as I would not need this option, and have it checked by default would be just the opposite problem for me :)

Yes, at least I think we're talking about the same thing. In the item manager (article list) the dropdown menu on the upper-right for filtering categories.

No big deal really, I just thought most people would agree. Sounds like they don't :D . Stock Joomla does it the way I'm talking about. If you choose a section (which is sort of Joomla's top level category), you'll get all articles from all the the categories in that section. I'm just used to always doing that I guess...

Normally, I wouldn't file anything in a parent category that has children. Would you? Say I have a products category with a bunch of subcats for the different product categories. I would file all of my products in the right subcat, but not directly in the parent. But right now, when you choose the the "products" category by itself it will be blank unless you go check "show subcats" and then go back and forth to make it refresh.

I'd definitely say not a big matter in the scheme of things though.

:D I did not get it right, you speak about backend features, I was speaking about frontend.

Then it's ok for me too :) , but I don't think it will be listed as a priority :)
