[SOLVED] pdf method-view of FC 3.0 BETA5

Hello ggppdk,

there is a little bug in file field of FC 3.0 BETA5 in Joomla 3.41:

I have a custom field "file" for downloads and configured to have the two buttons to either download or view file inline.

Now in bloglayout category the buttons are visible and downloading and viewing file (pdf) works both fine.

But in default layout single item only the download works as expected. The view button starts to do something, but is not showing the pdf.

To be complete, this happens with Safari 8 on Mac OS 10.10. But as it works in one view, it should not be browser related, what do you think?

Thank you and best regards, Macjoomla

Hello

the viewing does depend on browser, the browser is instructed to display the item by sending it appropriate

HTTP HEADER

it could happen that a PHP warning is printed that destroys the header, but this would effect all browsers and not only 1, if it works with other browsers, then probably it is not broken HTTP headers, besides a broken HTTP header would cause a download

do you know how to check/view HTTP headers in this browser ??

also it could be related to particular PDF files, and the PDF browser plugin, but you said it works with blog category layout, but not with default ?

Yes with same pdf in same article, that is why i thought, it may be just a little different in these views causing this issue. And to be honest, i don't know how to check/view HTTP headers in this browser. Please let me know, how/if i can do something to help. Can you reproduce this on your site?

Thank you and best regards, Macjoomla

Hello ggppdk,
after some investigations i have an interesting information for you:

In default layout single item a pdf of a file field can be viewed correctly if Advanced Search Module for FLEXIcontent is published .

If Advanced Search Module for FLEXIcontent is not published, it is not possible to show a pdf inline.

Best regards, Macjoomla

Hello

i would like to look at this (by sending me a PM with access to the site)

- i would publish / unpublish the module to see what is JS/CSS or other is included by the module, etc

but i don't have safari browser (Apple stopped developing the browser for other non-apple platforms), and online emulator is not easy to use
