Yes, the default language is fixed in v1.5.6, plus v1.5.6 uses less memory, and performance problem of category view is fixed too, along with dozen other bugs.

Could I use it on a live site ?
I see it is rc2 or should i wait for stable version ?

v1.5.6 RC2a is stable, and fixed a lot of bugs that the v1.5.4 had ...

Also the new feature list is a real long too.
Note that the new features (author manager and avdanced search view) have a small number of know defects, e.g. author manager works properly but creating new author is broken , workaround create a joomla user and then manage the author via the author manager tab.

For new sites please use v1.5.6 RC2a and not v1.5.4
