[SOLVED] Universal Module with custom field value as image

In the past I post a bug about the image field in the universal module.

The problem was the LINK in the image, by default the uniserval module links the image direcly to the article not respecting the link in the image.

To make that link work we needed to add the CUSTOM IMAGE FIELD as a custom field in the Universal Module,
no porblem what so ever here.

The appeard when we tried to add a BIG BANNER in the website. so we have treated a ctegory called banner homepge, created the type of article called banner frontpage and add the custom image field.
this where about settings:

BIG: 900x300px
Medium: 300x300px
Small: 150px 150px

HAs you can imagine the size that we want to use in the big one but becouse in the moudle we set the field as a CUSTOM FIELD we can not choose wich size to use, by default it uses the small

SO make this work we had to change the settings to:

BIG: 900x300px
Medium: 900x300px
Small: 900x300px

Please consider some king of option where we can choose wich size to use in the module when the image field is set as custom.

The image parameter has been fixed, so you can use this which also has option to specify size.

The custom field list of the universal module is to general, you just choose fields, and these fields will use the configuration saved in the fields manager for every field ...

I just tested this with Universal content module v. 1.3 (presumably updated by FC 3.0.7)

The two problems described by the original poster still seem to be present:

1. The Image parameters do not respect the original link of the Image. No matter whether Image source dropdown is used or "Field URL as Image". It shows either no link or the link of the item, but not the correct image link
2. If one uses instead the Fields parameters and enters the field name there then the correct link is used but always the small thumbnail is shown, instead of the size configured in the field, tab viewing, category view.

There seems to be also another bug in the"Please select the fields" field in featured. It shows only blank content, even though something is entered there, the entry is invisible. The standard field content is visible though.

btw: It would be useful to bump the version number after updates of the module so one can understand whether one is using the latest version.

this code is unlikely to have a bug, it is tested code, and has not changed recently

please read description of the parameters and be more specific
- the sizing parameters are NOT used when you used:
Field HTML as Image

when you:
Field URL as Image
- then the resizing parameter are used
BUT the field must produce an image URL of correct path absolute or correct relative otherwise the image will be broken

do not fill both:
Field HTML as Image
Field URL as Image
(currently Field HTML as Image takes precedence over Field URL as Image)



- about item link,
yes
the image is always linked to the item, so the link that you see it is around the image, and it is not the image, it will be there anyway, unless the code decides not to output an not found image (which is the case of no link that you said)
