item parameter is not being saved [solved]

In Templates I made a copy of the "default" template and added a new parameter in the item.xml like this: The parameter shows up fine when applying this new tempalte to an item. But on saving the item this new parameter always gets set back to its default value. What did I miss? Thanks.

Update: even in the core template "default" the Parameters: default values are set back to their default values upon saving.

I fixed this issue with template parameters for both frontend and backend, and it was a real pain.

2 workaround had to be implemented for J1.6-J2.5 :

-- one for saving, (the J1.6+ form validation removed them when saving)
-- and one for load the values, into the form since again J1.6+ changed the way Parameters are rendered

... wait for next revision within weekend (also i deleted a duplicate thread of yours)

Thanks, sounds good. Maybe that solves the problems I face with retrieving my parameters from custom layouts as well.
