FlexiContent Integer Field Type?

Hi all,

I just started playing with FlexiContent to see if it might be suitable to build an online product catalog for a client. He doesn't need cart functionality so a full blown e-commerce package is overkill. What he does need are custom item fields like color, size, country of origin, style, etc in addition to price, so the products can be searchable/sortable/filterable accordingly.

Surprisingly, many of the open source e-commerce solutions don't provide this functionality. Joomla+FlexiContent seems like a good fit to me, but there doesn't seem to be a field type that's integer-based.

The input type would be text but the underlying values should be integers - sortable and ideally searchable by min and max bound ranges.

How might I accomplish this with FlexiContent? Thanks all for your time.

You should be able to do this with Select Multiple fields.

Take a look at 2.- User fields about half way down that page.

Then set those fields as Filterable on the Fields page.

However, I don't understand how the multiple items selector relates to my question about integer data types. With either select or select multiple, the values are stored (presumably, please correct me if I'm wrong) as strings in the database. If that's the case, the value 64 will be stored as "64" rather than the integer 64.

For prices and sizes, etc, this doesn't seem ideal.
