Image field without thumbs and with existing images

I don't see anything when I edit an image field that allows you to change the directory for anything other than the thumbnails.

Despite having images in all media type folders (/medias, /stories, etc..) clicking on the "Existing File" drop down menu in the item edit screen shows nothing. No images to choose from.

Why must the MiniGallery upload to a different directory than the normal Image field - can I change that?

Since there doesn't seem to be any way to make the 1st image in a MiniGallery display as the thumbnail image, I would at least like the MiniGallery and the Image field to share the same image.

Example:

"photo1.jpg" SHOULD be the same file, in the same directory - NOT uploaded twice for the two fields and located in separate directories - much too sloppy.

Or an good alternative for accomplishing the same thing. Most important is the ease and usability for other authors to manage content.

in order to generate the thumbmail, for performance scanning.
But you can duplicated minigalery plugin to create your.
Create 1 image field, for all person, (to do what you want) it's more simply then devellopp exlusively for one.
