Permissions in Fields?

I would LOVE to see at least two different permission options for fields:

1. Visibility

2. Editing

For example, on the member-submitted categories, I have a field called "Heather Says," where I can comment as the site editor, that is styled a specific way.

Right now, in order to allow visitors to see the contents of that field, I have to allow authors access to write in that field.

Granted, I can ask them not to, and I can remove things/move them around if they accidentally do write int here, but it would be better if they could not write in there at all, yes?
