I try to add type="media" in category layout parameter.
like this
<field name="hero_bg" type="media" directory="hero" types="images" label="Hero background" description="Hero background image" />
but when I click the select button to open the media manager modal.
Browser show me the error
"Uncaught TypeError: this.modalElement.open is not a function
at JoomlaFieldMedia.show"  a.cl.ly/v1unkQOw  <<screenshot

anything I should do for the issue?

FLEXIcontent is Free but involves a very big effort on our part.

I add those fields’ parameters in fc template’s category.xml.  Because I want to build a category layout with many custom fields for my client can modified text or change image in category layout setting (not only category title, description, and category image ). I don’t want to use module to solve this purpose, because client may think too many modules is hard to manage.

I didnt think its a good solution because you will Lost it on every update
For me the solution a flexicontent type for a catégoriy
And use Universal module to display Dynamic content
You only need one module

these two pages will use fc custom category template. so I want to use custom category.xml in custom category layout.
I think custom category layout and xml will not change in every update.
