category view overrides not shown

The category view overrides at the menu item level is not working.
No matter the parameters specified, it always shows the view as defined in the category itself.
There is no actual override tasing place.


In the screenshots below, you can see that the "Read more..." link is se to hide in the menu item override parameters, bu yet keeps displaying.

the read more is a special case
not possible to disable in some cases

have you tried to override other parameters ?

That's exactly right.
Other parameters can be overridden at the menu item level.


I'll use a CSS rule to hide Read More in this particular view.

you should add the custom CSS to hide this
inside file category.less which will create category.css of your category layout

avoid adding this CSS globally since it may cause a headache in the future , that you may need to show read more in other places

now if you have many category layouts and you really need to hide it eveywhere, then you could add it in your Joomla template CSS
