[Remove ~username from URL] PHP Thumb - File Path Issue

I'm using the FlexiContent - Universal Content module. I'm displaying a resized image on the news layout. For some reason, the path to the image changes to reflect the Unix username for the site. This causes an error in displaying the image. When I clear the Joomla! cache in the Joomla administrator it seems to fix the problem. However, the problem comes back after a while.

Here is an example of what I get when I have the error:

I essentially need to get the "/~henderso/" to go away. Not sure why it is inserted into the path.

Any insight as to how this happens and how I can fix it?

aka ~username

probably you have set the variable
"live_site" in your Joomla configuration file

configuration.php

backup the above file
and then remove that line from it
