Hi!
Category dropdown is empty by default.
I think it should display text "Choose category"

Now users should press on dropdown to see it

Hello

- maybe you have selected a "default category" for the type

but the default category is disabled

e.g. the category is disabled because you have limited the type to a category sub-tree , and the parameter to disable the root of the sub-tree is ON

You right, parameter Disable subtree parent was enabled.
I disabled it,
Category dropdown - looks fine, but now users can add items to parent category.

I need that users can add new items only in child categories. Or hide parent category in dropdown at all.

Hello

please note that usually you will want to disable the root category of the category subtree , because it will be something generic
so think if you should allow it or not

the best would be to
- disable the ROOT category of the category sub-tree
- in the parameter "default category" do not select any category
