[SOLVED] Date ordering not sorting properly

I've got a custom date field which my items are supposed to sort on. It's behaving oddly. It sorts as far as the year, but after that it goes to the secondary criterion (currently order within category, although previously it was alphabetical by title), while ignoring the month and day. So, if I have an item dated 2003-08-19, a new item dated 2003-09-12 would be sorted above it, instead of below as it should be. However, 2004-01-01 sorts below, as expected.

In the tables, the relevant field (17) in flexicontent_advsearch_index only has year-month (i.e., 2003-8, not 2003-08-19), and flexicontent_advsearch_index_field_17 only has year-month in the same manner. However, it seems to me that if that were the issue, it should at least sort as far as month and only fail when it got to ordering on days. In flexicontent_fields_item_relations, field 17 has the full date as expected, and as it shows up when editing the item, i.e., 2003-08-19. In flexicontent_items_ext, the relevant portion under search_index is vvv2003-08.

What's going on here? How can I get it to sort as expected? I really need this to work; it's integral to my application.

- "search_index" is not used for sorting it is used only for text search
- value_id column is used for filtering "indexable" fields and for dates fields: date, created, modified (*publish_up, *publish_down)

- the item list ?
- or the values of the date filter ?

The ordering of the item lists; I haven't really poked at filtering yet. I'll find that RC and see if it helps...
