-- if joomla DB table '*_sesions' can has crashed no logins can be made

after you repair the tables you can continue to manually set a password into the DB according to

The redirect loop in frontend,
will continue to happen if your home page is any FLEXIcontent menu item and you have uninstalled the component
until you set a differen home page

Hi, Right i think i know what is wrong... for some reason all the tables in phpmyadmin are named "rfc1x_***" so for example the users table is called "rfc1x_users" i've renamed this back to "jos_users" and it's allowed me to log in but with an error saying "Table 'chris_lost.rfc1x_users' doesn't exist SQL=SELECT id, password FROM rfc1x_users WHERE username='keepachris'"

so if i rename all the tables back to "jos_***" it should work?
