Hi there,

When you have two fieldgroups in 1 document type that both use a certain field, both of them keep showing the same values. For example:

Fieldgroup 1: Audio Tracks with Language, Format and Chanels
Fieldgroup 2: Subtitles with Language and Subtitle type

I put in the following data:

Audio Tracks
Language Format Channels
English Dolby Digital 5.1
Dutch Dolby Digital 5.1
French Dolby Digital 5.1

Subtitles
Language Type
English
Dutch
French

When displayed, both fields are like this:

Audio Tracks
Language Format Channels
English Dolby Digital 5.1
Dutch Dolby Digital 5.1
French Dolby Digital 5.1
French
English

Subtitles
Language Type
English
Dutch
French
French
English

This reflects in the form of the item too so maybe it's a form issue that it's not saving the fieldgroup language field seperate?

Hello

ok, i understand you now,
- yes that is the expected behaviour

the description asks to use the field in only 1 field group
- please create a different / extra field

Thank you for the reply!

Not sure if I understand why that is the correct behaviour? Surely it doesn't make sense for me to create the exact same field just to use it in another field group? I like the fact that in Flexicontent you can re-use fields over multiple document types, so is there no possibility to keep this going for the fieldgroups? Otherwise I'll end up with 5 "Language" fields in my fields list if I want to re-use it in other fieldgroups??

Hello

in fields manager,
you can select to copy the field after you create it

the description says that it will not work, so i am not sure why you expected that it will work like this

I understand that it is noted in the description, but I am just trying to say that it shouldn't be normal to keep cloning fields just to re-use them in fieldgroups? One of the advantages over other CCK's you have is that you can re-use the fields and that kinda gets lost with these fieldgroups.

But yes, I guess I'll duplicate the Language field for now. Still hoping for this to be "fixed" in a future version though ;) Otherwise… Keep up the good work!

Hello

please note that:
this will not be changed ("fixed") in the future, it will create 10 coding problems/issues/bugs and only solve 1 annoyance,

you will need a little extra time to copy the field (and update 2 fields when needed) and assign every field to only 1 field group

thanks for feedback
