I think if you enable versioning it will work.

You certainly forgot to update the last thing in the Flexi Dashboard. I had the same problem and solve it by enable versionning and updating in the dashboard.

I still got that problem (r185)
the dashboard(Home) does not show any updates.
no custom fields are saved with or without versioning enabled.
any ideas? beta5 was working for me..

The last think that I see is to take care about the name of the field and the name of the position. So without any space in the string. I remember that I had this problem one time. I'm not really sure. (and sorry for my poor english).
