Hi!

I have some problems regarding notifications when updating a existing article. Would like to confirm if its a bug or a misconfiguration on my side.

Editor creates new article
Editor ask for publish
Publisher receives mail, enters and publish article
Editor enters and modify article. It says that its an unautherized version (this is ok)
Here is the point. The publisher must receive now a notification? I have on "New Content: PENDING PUBLICATION (from authors that cannot publish)" the id of my publisher and works correctly. I have it also on "Updated Content: NEEDING VERSION APPROVAL (author cannot publish, versioning is enabled)" but I don´t receive anything

- If I try to ask for approval on a published article with a new version, I receive something like "you can only ask for approval if you are the owner and the status is draft"
- I have tried with both "auto approve versions" yes and no
- When I receive the mail, will I receive the new text or the current one on the mail body?

Anyway, regarding this, why the first time you need to ask for permission with the button and when is published its triggered on save?

1. Usually, for new items you get to save it multiple times before you are satisfied with it

maybe you will complete it after some days

and Usually when modifying existing items modifications are completed within a short time

2. New items may require more reviewal work than modified items ?

you think to allow user to request approval also when editing existing items?

Regards

There are a couple of things that make us think that is better that way.

First, it would be more coherent if the approval is always asked on the same way, from a usability point of view

Second, and maybe more important, the save button is used frequently to keep secure the work done. The more typical case of use for this behaviour would be the edition of a current static article with new info. It´s not like correcting a typo, and a early save could indicate wrongly to the publishers that the article is ready when is not.

What do you think?
