Categories not showing in frontend

Hello,

I've just took over a website which is build on FlexiContent. This is the first time I use this component. When I want to edit an item on the frontend, I only see the category "Uncategorised". All categories, which I see in the backend, are not shown. I searched the forum and the solutions is something with "overriding categories in the submit menu item". But I don't have a clue what this means. Can you give me a step-by-step how to do so?

Thanks again,
Florian

Hello

1. please disable override category permissions in submit menu, the usual proper way is to use ACL

so, have you configured the ACL privileges?
(in this case it is the 'create' ACL privilege)

-- it works exactly like in Joomla article system:
a. user-groups are assigned the 'create' ACL privilege,
b. if your frontend user belongs to usergroup(s) that have 'create' privilege then he will be able to assign items into these categories, (=these categories will appear in item form)

-- If you have not configure ACL, please do so:
1. set default 'create' privilege in FLEXIcontent permissions
2. if needed override the default in specific categories (their sub-categories will be effected too)

please read Joomla's ACL tutorial if you have not done already

Hi, I've never knew what you mean by "submit menu item". Finally I found out that I had to add a menu item "Item submission form" to a (hidden) menu and had to disable the category ACL override there. It's not in a very logical position but thankfully I finally found out :)

Case closed.

Hello

i thought you were using a submit menu item

1. you do not need to create a submit menu item
2. you can display a submit menu item in category view "Add item to this category"
and in multi-category view "Add item"

-- the above will use the ACL that you have configured
-- you can configure the parameter to show the button in component parameters and override in category parameters
