Hi there,

I just created an image gallery field.
Enabled the multiselection...

I can only select one image to upload.
Selectimage/browse/upload
Then select the image
Then add another container and so on...

Is it possible to do this only once?

I want to upload images at once and select them all and done... If I have 10 images for this item, it is really time consuming..
Thank you.

Hello

- about uploading multiple images, it is not possible via item form
... but for initial site setup you can use FTP to upload to correct folder, that is one of the benefits of using item+field specific folder, easy management for end-users without need to update DB

and as i answered you in a different forum thread the zip upload will be added to the image field, it is only a fraction more work to do so, compared to the work already done on this image - gallery field ! (it is a powerful gallery extension closely integrated into a CCK)

- about multi-selection, you mean create many empty containers at once ?

that may be confusing
when you click to select the image for a container
(which has various properties, title / description, etc)

maybe a different button would be the way to do this

so to summarize , zip upload will be added (next version), but multiple selection , will think of it

Regards

I can add images via FTP but my client doesnt even know what FTP means :) thats my problem...

I cannot tell the client.

Alright fire up the FTP.
Find the dlkasjdlkd;jalksdj; folder and have a look at the item and ID :)
Thats too overwhelming for a person who doesnt know anything about managing websites.

I am trying to make the joomla CMS more usable- dont want to make it more difficult than what it is already...

Since the FTP option is not a good choice for me, I wanted to have the multiple images upload at a time so it reduces the time that takes to add a new item to the site...

Hope you understand.

With the zip file - how will it work?
Upload the zip file which contains images and it will extract the zip file automatically?

Thank you

Hello

as i said before (in another forum thread), about FTP:

it is a suggestion for you and not for your client, and only for initial site setup (which usually has a lot of content e.g. thousand of items)

-- to your client just show the item form interface

-- about zip , i mean ZIP all an images into a single archive and then upload ZIP, the zip is then extracted automatically after it arrives on server,

... anyway this is something for a future FLEXIcontent version and not for using now, it is very little work to add compare to the work already on the image / gallery field

Regards

I still dont know why I cant upload multiple images at a time to a image gallery?

Image gallery consists of "multiple images" in an ideal world...

If it was an image field, I understand that only single image is needed.

But for the image gallery, you would expect to add 10s of images. And if I tell my client, upload the image, click on the image then add another container, upload image add image. Add another container upload image and then add the image... This is a long process and it should be simplified. Is there any other way I can simplfy this?

Thank you.

Hello

but i have answered you already,

can you see how much detail and how much time i spent to answer your questions ???

and done for free, and in small period less that 1-2 days ?

-- you cannot because it is not implemented !

-- and you are right it is not convenient, we will be adding in probable next version (or version after next for sure),

-- and it is rather little work, but so is a lot of little useful features can you imagine the size of the FLEXIcontent project ?

thank you for comments and for appreciating our work in order to use it

also please read this:
