I see, I have made almost the same configuration but without flexicontent on other ocasion.

I have made your test case.

I added also to that group:

- Permission to backend
- Access level special
- access to flexicontent backend

I still can´t add new items on the backend.

Unless otherwise indicated:
Joomla 3.8.1
Flexicontent 3.2.1.7

Hello

this is a well tested feature, something

and access level is not relevant other than being able to view the backend, is that what you say he cannot view / access FLEXIcontent component at the backend ?

you can send me a PM for this ,

but please be specific:

1. super admin access
2. tell me which user you are using and give login account of the user
3. which category he is supposed to be able create new items and for which content type

Regards

Hello

i found a bug in regards to create privilege:

-- currently you cannot create content unless you have "create" privilege in component

which is wrong since not having is either a
hard deny
OR a
"soft deny" (=not assigned)

-- in the case of "soft deny"
we need to check category access of all categories,
so indeed there is a bug

-- committed fix in r1809:
# Fixed category 'create' permission not being checked and considered 'denied', when component 'create' permission is set to 'soft deny' (=inheriting an non-assigned)

-- also in r1808:
Implemented your suggestion for: category parameters heritage
- multi-level from parent categories (with ability to stop at before reaching root)
- single level heritage from specific category

Not working on r1813 + joomla 3.2 > _ <

Let me know what info would you need for troubleshooting, but it´s basically the same as before: If I give create permissions to the group, it allow me to create permissions for all categories. If I give create permissions for only one that category, I can´t create anything.

Joomla 3.8.1
