Why is FLEXI_CATEGORIES and not the directory root/menu title?

Unless otherwise indicated:
Joomla 3.8.1
Flexicontent 3.2.1.7

did you check global config of flexicontent and config menu link ?

FLEXIcontent is Free but involves a very big effort on our part.
Like the our support? (for a bug-free FC, despite being huge extension) Like the features? Like the ongoing development and future commitment to FLEXIcontent?

Hello

if you want a different page heading then why not enable the parameter in the menu item ?

-- this view will not always show directory root, so using this as default heading is wrong

Regards

Sorry, I made a mistake while explaining

Now:
FLEXI_CATEGORIES

Prefered IMHO:
Category selected
Menu title

I don´t see the global config you say,and would be cumbersome to change manually each menu entry.

Hello

-- if you prefer menu title then you should enable the parameter "Show page heading" in menu item

-- if you want to have a different text for "FLEXI_CATEGORIES" you could create a joomla language override,

Code:
<?php if ( $this->params->get( 'show_page_heading', 1 ) ) : ?> <h1 class="componentheading"> <?php echo $this->params->get('page_heading'); ?> </h1> <?php else : ?> <h2 class="contentheading"> <?php echo JText::_( 'FLEXI_CATEGORIES' ) ;?> </h2> <?php endif; ?>

-- but your question is (i guess), when you select a START category for directory view 's subtree right? is that you do in the menu items, select a ROOT(START) category ?
you suggest that this category title should be the page_heading instead of 'FLEXI_CATEGORIES', right ?
