I have some fields with language strings. The English language strings get indexed and are available in the front end. But the second language is not indexed as far as I can see in the back end and is also not available in the front end Advanced Search Box.

What did I do wrong here?

Cheers

Hello

a content item is indexed regardless of its language, and regardless of its state: published, unpublished, archived, etc

if you go to the backend search index TAB and you search by item ID of an item in second language, is it listed ?

The German item gets indexed, but the fields with the language strings are in English. All fields have the English translations but the item is published in German.

Example: all my FC items (English and German) contain the field Location Type

Field elements:
1::COM_FC_JM_APARTMENT_AND_HOLIDAY_RENTAL%%
2::COM_FC_JM_BAR%%
3::COM_FC_JM_BOARDREPAIR%%
4...

The translations are in the override language files.

The search index contains the English translations for the English AND the German item. Here is an example:
... oh, now the index contains the German translation indeed! I did not know that I have to empty the search index after creating an item. Or does it work now because I switched the back end to German?

The problem now is that the German index is available in the English AJAX search. So the user finds e.g. the German word "Ferien" in the AJAX List but after clicking the search button no item is found which is pretty confusing I'd say. Is this an option that I missed to configure correctly?

Hello

about fields elements,

yes this is a bug, all items that fields with labels are indexed using the LABEL TRANSLATIONS of your current backend language

will fix this, (next couple of days)

Question: where have you placed the translations of the language strings ?
- in language file, which one ?
- in Joomla language manager using the language override capability for adding/overriding language strings ?

Regards
