[normal] field values in adv search index despit set to NO

I have a check box field with language strings. I did set the field in Content Lists and Search View to "Text Search" = NO and "Filter" = YES.

I would assume that the values of this field do not appear in the Advanced Search Index after re-indexing but they are there. I do not want this massive amount of repetitive values in the index. How do I get rid of them?

Cheers

Hello

1. this is normal,
a field value is added to advanced search index if it is either "TEXT searchable" or "Filterable"

2. if you believe tables these tables are large, compare how big the joomla smart search index table become, when similar amount of information is added to them

Regards

Thanks for the quick clarification. I already thought this is a bug :)

Still I could reduce the table size by around 80% if I would be able to NOT index these fields that I need only for the filters. And 80% at 20.000 articles/items is a lot!

So my question again: Is there a way I can achieve this?

Cheers

Hello

only if you do not need them to be filterable (display as filters) in search view

otherwise you should not change these,

for large sites, you must consider trade-offs (= if something is worth doing this way or other way) e.g. if you don't really need some field to be filterable then remove it !

Okay, thx. I cant disable these fields. I need all the additional fields in as filters because the filters are the main benefit for the user experience in our service.

... but now I wonder why there actually are these options for "Text Search" and "Filter" when the content is indexed anyway. I guess I dont fully understand the concept behind this yet ... if you please could shed some light on that ... thanks.
